COAST TO COAST - NORTH ROUTE
Your riding ability
On our long distance rides we will be travelling many miles a day in the saddle, riding up and down hills and over rough terrain so you must be capable of riding in a balanced manner for your horses sake! Our horses health and happiness is always a priority to us and because of the long days in the saddle, we require all riders to be competent in riding with a light seat (i.e posting the trot and light seat in canter) to minimise stress on the horses back. We will be crossing rivers, galloping along beaches and may need to jump small natural obstacles, like ditches or fallen trees - nothing too big, but you need to be a capable rider and able to control a horse at speed. It is also important that you are practised in leading a horse over difficult terrain as there may be times when this is necessary. We require all our riders to be at a walk/trot/canter level.

How to Find Us
Public transport routes
Flights
The closest airport to us is Aberdeen airport which is approximately an hour east of our centre. There are shuttle buses available from the airport that will take you to the centre of Aberdeen where you can then get a connecting bus to Aboyne. If you are flying into Edinburgh, there are plenty of train and bus options to bring you to Aberdeen where you can continue your journey onwards to Aboyne. Check Stagecoach North or Scotrail for timetabling and further information.

Bus from Aberdeen
There are a few different bus routes from Aberdeen that will bring you to Aboyne. The fastest is the 201 which runs approximately 3 or 4 times a day. and will take approximately 1.5hrs. Our centre is located on Ballogie estate which is approximately 6 miles from town however we can potentially arrange a taxi or pick up for you should you provide us with plenty of notice regarding your arrival time. Please note that buses are infrequent on Sundays! Check Stagecoach North for timetabling and further information

Please advise us at the time of booking if you require collecting in order for us to make arrangements well in advance. Public transport in the Highlands and Cairngorms is not frequent! Before booking flights, please check that there will be a bus or train leaving at the right time for you to be able to catch it – allow extra time for delays, and for your bus journey from the Airport into Aberdeen town, unless of course, you are happy to pay the extra for collection!
We suggest you check www.travelinescotland.com as they can provide all public transport information for air, rail and bus or coach, within Scotland and from major Cities through out the UK.
